7 Human Foods That are Safe for Dogs

A dog is truly man’s best friend. And when it comes to food, we just love it when we can share our food with our little doggos. But it can be tricky sometimes to figure out what food is okay for them and what isn’t. There are some foods that can have some toxic side effects on their bodies, and some may even be fatal to them. We have made a list of human foods that are completely safe for dogs so for you to come back to whenever in doubt.

Peanut Butter
That’s right! This delicious treat is completely safe for your dogs so you can both enjoy it with delight. It contains a good amount of vitamins, which are very good for the health of dogs but please make sure that you pick a variety which is completely sugar-free with no sodium, low fat, and has absolutely no Xylitol, which is very dangerous for dogs.

Apples
An apple a day apparently keeps a doctor away from dogs too! Apples are a good source of fiber for dogs and can help in maintaining dental hygiene and clean breath. Apples dipped in peanut butter is a combination that we highly suggest trying as a treat for your furry friend.

White Rice
Plain or cooked white rice is completely safe and healthy for dogs. Even brown rice, for that matter, could be fed to dogs without worry. Rice is actually known to ease symptoms of an upset stomach in dogs and can even be given to dogs on a daily basis.

Bread
Bread on its own or even with some peanut butter can be eaten by your dog without any worry. While it is safe, it isn’t nutritionally dense and should be given in moderation with careful precautions about what spreads or spices are used.

Cheese
If your dog isn’t lactose intolerant, he or she can be allowed to indulge in cheese every once in a while. But you mustn’t overdo this as most types of cheeses are high in fat content. Cottage cheese is an excellent choice for them since it is rich in protein and calcium.

Cooked Chicken
Boiled chicken is actually very good for dogs and can help if they have an upset stomach. Remember to take out the cooked bones though as they pose a serious choking hazard. Chicken should never be served to dogs uncooked since it poses the threat of salmonella. Bones however could be given uncooked since they are soft and chewy.

Oatmeal
Oatmeal is very well known to be an excellent breakfast because of the number of soluble fibers and good carbohydrates in it. It is safe for even grain-sensitive dogs and should be made in a very simple manner with no sugar, or other flavoring substances added to it.
